What is Dhoomapana?

About Dhoomapana

Congestion, persistent coughs, and heavy breathing can make every day feel like a struggle. In Ayurveda, the breath is the carrier of life energy (Prana), and keeping the respiratory passages clear is vital for health. Dhoomapana , or medicated herbal smoke inhalation, is a traditional therapy designed to clear the head and chest of excess mucus and toxins. Experience the purifying power of Dhoomapana at Yara Wellness in Bali, where we use ancient herbal preparations to help you breathe freely and restore your vitality.

Dhoomapana ?

Dhoomapana is an Ayurvedic procedure involving the inhalation of medicated smoke generated from burning specific herbal preparations. In Sanskrit, " Dhooma " means smoke and "Pana" means to drink or inhale. This therapy is specifically designed to balance Kapha and Vata Doshas in the upper respiratory tract and head.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your Dhoomapana session at Yara Wellness.

You will be provided with a disposable undergarment. The therapy is traditionally performed with minimal clothing to allow the herbal applications to reach all necessary areas of the body. Your privacy and comfort are always maintained with careful draping throughout the session.
A full Dhoomapana session at Yara Wellness generally lasts 60 minutes, which includes the specialized therapy followed by a restorative resting period or a warm herbal steam bath to maximize absorption.
We recommend arriving on a light stomach. Avoid heavy meals at least 2 hours before your session. A small snack is fine, but a full meal may cause discomfort as the body's digestive energy and healing energy work optimally when not in conflict.
We suggest waiting at least 30–60 minutes before showering to allow the medicinal herbs and oils to continue absorbing into the skin and tissues. When you do shower, use warm (not hot) water and mild soap to preserve as much of the therapeutic benefit as possible.
